This can help speed your recovery and enhance the retraining of your spine. In some cases deep tissue massage is a service covered by insurance. Acupuncture

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient medical treatment based on regulating the body’s Qi (pronounced “chee”), or “life energy”, which flows in the body along pathways called meridians.  Hundreds of acupuncture points can be opened like gates to balance and harmonize the flow of Qi, relieving pain and many other symptoms.

Does it hurt?

No. Most people enjoy treatment and find it very relaxing and restful.  Sometimes the needle insertion feels like a quick pinch that rapidly subsides.  Some people report mild tingling, heaviness, warmth, or a dull ache at the acupuncture point, which is a sensation of Qi moving.  After treatment, you can expect to feel less pain, more energy, and an heightened sense of well being.

Is it sanitary?

Yes, at Stamps Chiropractic, we use disposable acupuncture needles.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required depends on the severity and duration of the symptoms to be addressed. For cold or flu, one or two treatments can be very helpful. For chronic health conditions of years or even life-long duration, a longer course of treatment is normally required.  Within the first 4-6 sessions, the effectiveness of the treatment is often evident and clear treatment goals should be established.

Does health insurance cover acupuncture?

Most insurance plans do not cover acupuncture.

Dr. Wes Asks some important questions of interest to New Braunfels residents - Chiropractor New Braunfels Dr. Wes Asks...

How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
Are aches and pains good or bad?
While aches or pains may be unpleasant, they're merely warning signs. As a New Braunfels chiropractor, I see this all the time. The pain is not the problem! It just means a limitation has been reached and something needs to change. That's when we get to work correcting the underlying cause.
